Are you saying the install freezes?

If it does, make sure that the disc itself is not scratched, dirty, or otherwise damaged. Your disc drive may be having a problem reading the file off the disc during the install process.

You can try copying the entire disc to a folder on your hard drive and run the install from that folder instead. You'll have to copy everything, files, folders, etc. to the folder on your hard drive.

If the install still freezes, it could be that something on your computer is interfering with the installer.

What operating system are you using on your computer? XP? Window 7 or 8?

Ok, Windows 7. It might require you to run the install.exe program with the Windows Program Compatibility Troubleshooter.

I have Windows 8, so it's somewhat similar to your setup. You should be able to find the PCT with a search or in the Windows Control Panel.

You should be able to find it on the Windows Control Panel, or if you right click on the Install.exe file on the disc you should see it listed under the PROPERTIES > COMAPATiBILITY tab. There should be a option or button to select the "Run compatibility trouble shooter".

You can let it try to auto-fix the installer, or you can use the "not listed" option in the troubleshooter and then BROWSE to your disc and manually select the install.exe file. Then proceed from there. You may want to try setting the compatibility mode to XP and see what happens.

If you get the game to successfully install and have a problem running the game after that you may have to use the troubleshooter on the caesariv.exe file in the install folder of you hard drive. Try the auto-fix method and if that doesn't work try the "not listed" and BROWSE method to find the caesariv.exe file. Set it for XP and see if that helps.

Another possibility is that there is something installed on your computer that interferes with the SecuROM security software that runs from the disc during install and when starting up the game.

I haven't tried this on Windows 8, but see if you can find out if there is a "SAFE MODE" startup for Windows 7. I know there is one in XP. What this does is that it shuts down anything in the startup process that is not related to Windows.

Sometimes installing the game from the 'Safe mode' worked when installing from the normal Windows desktop mode did not due to interference from 3rd party software that is being launched during the computer restarts. If the game installs from the 'Safe Mode" successfully, you can reboot the computer and let it startup normally to run the game.
