Coverage

Postby John O'Dowd » Mon Jan 12, 2009 1:30 pm

Hi,

I was browsing the threads and I found a very helpful post that provided a list of how many tiles certain structures cover. My question is: How big is a tile? And if it says 48 tiles, is that an area of 8*6 or 4*12?

Thanks

Your overlay mode will show the exact coverage.

Howdy, John O'Dowd!

C4 is designed with very tiny microtiles. The standard road is 3 microtiles wide. Buildings are various sizes.

Now if you are talking service coverage, the 48 microtiles would be along a "normal" straight road. Services run in zig-zags along diagonal roads & you will lose about 1/3 of coverage range on diagonals.

So, let's say you start with a point source with a range of 48 microtiles. The service area if you made a solid HUGE road pad, would look like an equilateral diamond, not a circle. 96 microtiles E-W & N-S where you would get the largest range.

The smallest "tile" unit would be equal to a small hedge.
I believe 4 of those equal a road tile, which is generally used as the base "tile" measurement.

A basic road is 3 tiles wide. :) Of course, you can make it wider if you want. ;)
