Hi there,

Not a real expert at taking shots but I decided to grab some of my "Authoritarian" City. I have patch 4 so the UI changed once some threshold was met (not sure what exactly, but it shifted and that was a pretty cool effect.

The first is an overall shot of my city - it's not really that big but the high density of housing is what makes it relatively compact.

The second is from the far corner almost by the power plants. You get a sense of the size of the Ministry of Thought. :)

The third is a nice look at the Conditioning Theater in the middle of my massive governmental-apparatus complex. The Panopticon's in the lower middle-left, the Hall of Records is the huge building to the left of the theater, and various other things like the Behavioral Modification Research center and so on are in the background, and across the street are the several units of State Housing. :)

The fourth is my emerging industrial/robotic complex that I never really got off the ground. I just managed to get the oil refinery when I reopened this to get screenies, so maybe I'll expand that. As it is I have the Droid Nexus and the Droid production center there along with the State Cafeteria. :P

The last shot is my city close to night-time. The interesting thing is that the true Orwellian/authoritarian effect doesn't come until the middle of the night when all the klieg lights blaze and the city's almost as bright as in the daytime. :D

----

EDIT - I noticed in one person's screenie they got a green "donation" type bar that said "Command Economy"; what does that do exactly and how do you get it in Authoritarian?

Hi,
here are some of my biggest cities. They are all capitalistic because it is my favourite society in the game.

Considering how much pollution there is in my city, it's amazing that my sims are in good health, generally speaking. Even with three super coal plants, I might need a fourth if I kept building up my city since there is plenty of real estate left to build on.

As for crime, I've made my police stations send out SWAT teams round the clock and I've installed call boxes virtually everywhere.

interesting map, I would love to see some screens. I see you have pretty much segregated your homes, venues and workplaces. I also see a lot of decorations in the middle there, I would love to see what they are.

Here is a pic from outside the hospital and the park. This city is a part of the challange in hardcore, the last challange before I go on to nightmare.

Hello,
I decided to show you some pics of my first romantic city.
The town isn't very big but quite pretty I think.

Here are pics of my Industrial Religious Society of Dedra. I'll post info card later. The remodeling had dropped my population considerable (from 80k to 30k). I'll wait before posting card info.

Strange things happens in simcity. I was looking around my city and suddenly these two buildings was there, attach to each other half way out on the road lol.

Was that city built before patch 5?

I've observed that the footprint of some buildings has been changed, so there may be problems with any cities built before installing the latest patch. It looks like your buildings may have gotten pushed out into the street to make room for something else you built.

The changes in building effects were sufficient for me to start over with all new cities.

yes patch 5 has changed the orrientation of all footprints by 90 degrees. the developers changed all the default buliding files to match the switch but if you have any mods with a rectangular foot print then they will be affected by this change.

you can fix the mods yourself by switching the width and height values in the building's xml file.

I can't get any of the developers to comment on it, but I know they are aware of it.

I will see if it happens again then maybe I will try to fix it but for now I just deleted both buildings. It was fun though.

It is fun to watch the people too, I was playing with some new mods and made it pretty outside one of the clinics and what do you know ... the doctors came out to look lol.
