I've been away for quite some time, mainly alcoholism and World of Warcraft.

There are a great number of gamers that never read, let alone post to forums of the games they love. Just in my flat alone there are 5 happy SCS players of which none have posted here.

I have a list of games that for me will never be "dead" and SCS is most certainly high on the list of games I keep coming back to.

"Ruined SimCity"? Nonsense! I've been a SimCity fan since I got my first SNES and have played every sequel since.

I agree SCS is NOT "SC5" but it is still a very fun, addictive game. Which, and many may argue, can be as challenging as the goals you personally set for each city.

There are *plenty* of silent fans out there, and with the tangent SCS has taken from the SimCity franchise, I'd say SCS appeals to a much wider range of gamers than the true-to-roots SimCity games.

I read the forums on a daily basis, but unless I have something I feel is noteworthy I don't post.

I'm still around. I just occasionally play this game on and off. It's still a good game, IMO.

Really, I consider SimCity Societies to be of completely different nature that it should be considered as different branch of SimCity franchise and that SimCity 5 is still in the open in case EA decides to do another version of SimCity down along the main line of the franchise.

At any rate, have a pleasant day. ;)

Lurking here too. I'll have quite a bit of free time with the Korean New Year starting tomorrow so I'll put up more Korean-themed retextured buildings soon. :)

Just so you all won't feel left out, of course, I play Destinations. I'm just not a modder. <ducking>

I have been busy and agree with some others that time is a factor.. I love this game and too bad it is not being developed anymore.. if I could learn game programming I would take it on!! I think it is beautiful and fun!! :p

You could make extra additions to the game with a bit of XML and textures editing. :) I'd like to do more, but I'm a bit burdened with stuff lately.

haven't been here in months, haven't played either. Still looking for that elusive fix to get my Destinations working again.

I got myself a little Samsung Netbook, I wonder if I can copy my DVD to a flash drive and then install it on Windows 7 Starter Pack, I guess it will be useless unless I have an external DVD Drive, seeing that the game wants the DVD? Am not gong to buy a DVD drive just to find out that the game won't play. lol

SCSD is available on direct-download (I got mine as direct download from the EA site), but I don't know if you're willing to fork out some cash for something that possibly may not work. :o Also not sure if a little netbook would have the capacity or power to run something as resource-intensive as SCSD.

Sorry to hear it still isn't working for you. What are your prospects for a new computer?
There are methods to create a 'virtual DVD drive' in which you copy your entire DVD into a folder and fool the computer into thinking it is a drive.
However that means you are using up valuable hard drive space to store the entire DVD.

You can try a no-dvd fix, I have not tried any of these so use at your own risk.

Been playing this for over a month now. As weird as it might sound. I like to play SCS as an alternative on SC.

I like to play what i call "30-day town". Trying to build a well designed city with a healthy budget/income within 30 days.

Do you go with a particular city style or do you experiment with different things each time?

Welcome to the forums, by the way. :)

Hello! I'm new here - just got my account approved after a long delay since registering, so at last I can post. I've been playing SCS for a while, but only just recently got into modding it. I've been able to figure out a lot of things from what's already been posted here, so thanks to all who have posted tips/tricks/guides/etc. I have a town hall reskin that I'll post as soon as I get a couple more things done with it.

Welcome to the forums. It is good that you have already worked you're way into modding the game. Also, like Midrealm said, feel free to ask any questions if you need to. We will happily answer them.
