Authoritarian Competition!

Postby Mzrokks » Sat Jun 19, 2010 8:17 pm

Show me the money!! I mean, show me your authoritarian cities.
Do I REALLY need to say how awesome those police states are?
A chocolate bunny goes to the best authoritarian city (include screenshots please). I'll post screenies myself but I won't vote for myself (honest!)

I'm new here, by the way.

I'm honestly not really good with Authoritarian; I tend to like my cities happy if not utopian. :o

Actually, Nine is full of ecstatic workers, or at least very happy ones. From time to time I have one or two rogues.

Authoritarian = Happy!

these are super fantastic, I also had a look at the others, it all looks almost real. I can see that a lot of thought goes into these. Not like my cities who start as Westerns or whatever and end up as a mish mash of "stuff", lolol I don't have the patience to stick to one theme. Forget which buioldings I have/want to place. I should write it all down perhapsy and plan better.

I'm currently reading 1984 by George Oswell, and that's the inspiration for Nine. :)

Authoritarian = Happy!

Did you stick strictly to the authoritarian filter?
I've never tried to build a Happy authoritarian society,
but then again I make good use of the Synergy option in corporate offices,
so I prefer 'content'

Thanks, although I can never get the cultural graphics effects to stay, as you can see on the TV Station, Sports Stadium, Treasury Department, and Police Stations.

(Theory)
This probably something to do with the metrics,

If you are 100% Authoritarian
you can also still be 25% capitalist, 35% cyberpunk, etc.
(Each society metric is tracked independantly)

So if you have a city that is Authoritarian, but also heavily capitalist, the game can pick some elements from each. I'm not sure if it is random, or if their is some sort of heirarchy (ie. Capitalist trumps Authority, etc)

But if you mix up your societies you can end up with Capitalist satelite dishes in a contemplative society, or Haunted yard decorations in a small town

This is most obvious when you make one society type and then try to change it to another.

Still, I can't say for certain that is the problem, it could just be glitchy. :(
