On SkyDrive anything you put in the PUBLIC folder can be accessed by anyone you provide the link to.

You can also setup other folders and designate the access level you want them to have.

You don't necessarilly have to have HotMail. I use Yahoo and AOL email addresses for most of my stuff online.

geez, I obviously didn't look back at your previous post. Sorry about that. Oh, and you don't have to be logged in to Windows Live to access the file.

I just started downloading the file and it appears to be working. Thanks very much. I have enjoyed SimCity Socieites in the past and started playing it again a couple of weeks ago. This is the first time I ever tried to find any mods for it. I am looking forward to see what people have developed for the game.

Thank you very much, tobing.

Can anyone tell me file names of the mods that crash the game? Also, none of the objects downloaded have any names or info. I did as the first posted suggested but that does not work.

Read pcgamer2's list before using any mods. He made a fairly detailed list on what mods change game mechanics, which are mostly cosmetic, and which are unstable.

I have done that however many of the mods within the pack have different file names compared to what the list shows. I cannot find the mods that the list names.

I have followed the instructions perfectly, yet this does not work. The Building Text file I add is larger than the vanilla files yet nothing changes.

My apologies for any problems several have been experiences, as well as a broken download link. I currently do not have access to the file at this moment (nor SCS), as its on a particular computer. I will however this summer, and will fix this project then.

If you still are willing to use anyways and figure out the problems yourself Tobing posting a link a few posts back (thanks by the why) http://tiltedmill.com/forums/showpost.php?p=283345&postcount=16

Ahh that would be cool, a fresh compilation.

You wouldn't happen to know the names of the mods in the pack that I should disable and how to get the names and info to show up? I have tried everything.

Did you put it in the correct folder? And are none of the labels appearing?

If I recall correctly, for some reason, the game will only recognize the first few modded building text files. If there are a lot of text files, then you'd have to consolidate it into one file.

Yes I have put it into the correct folder. How do I consolidate it into one file?

Also, can you name the mods I should disable to prevent it crashing? The name of the mods is different to what the list names them as.

This is driving me mad!

Sorry about the frustration. I do not know which mods are crashing the game as I will need to test that out myself. The reason why the name of the mods are different then what the list has is because the list is of those that were not included in the package

I will only list mods that couldn't be compiled as well as the stated reasoning, and the link to the mod's download thread:

Wish you luck, if you really want to play with mods, I would start by just adding the mods that wouldn't seem likely to create problems (and the ones you actually want) and leave the iffy ones to testing.

I will try with just the texture mods and props first. I will then try each mod one by one to find the mods which are causing the problems. I will update you all with my findings.

Now I wish I could get the labels to appear. It's a shame, this game is so much better with the mods.

Ok so I have done some testing I will list all the mods within the pack. The texture mods for tiles appear to work fine, however I did run into problems with the SOL mods.

Use only one other Building Text file aside from the original. Copy and paste the text from the other files and put it into that one file, delete the other files. Note that you need an XML file editor (which you can find for free online).

Huh? The files in the mod are all SCS Pack files they do not have any XML files.

I went to "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SimCity™ Societies\Localization\en_uk\ObjectText" and opened the Object Text, the text within is the same as "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SimCity™ Societies\DataXP1\Localization\en_uk\ObjectText" there is no difference..

I think you're looking in the wrong folders. If you unpacked the mod, then the Localization Text files should be in the mod folder's localization text folder.

Note that some mods or some older mods may not reference DataXP1 and instead have Building Text files unpack into the regular SCS mod folder. In that case, look in ProgramData/SimCity Societies/Localization/en_us rather than DataXP1.

If you are having a problem getting the mod compilation file from other links, try this one from a Cloud server I uploaded the file to:

MEGA

No LOGIN or REGISTRATION required.

The downloads may tend to "stall" when downloading using Internet Explorer. If that happens, just refresh the entire page (F5 key) and start the download over again.

Internet Explorer 10 is not fully compatible with MEGA
Internet Explorer 10 contains a significant bug affecting file writing from JavaScript, causing an out of memory situation when downloading large amounts of data. We expect this issue to be fixed in Internet Explorer 11. In the meantime, please upgrade to an alternative browser.

I've been downloading files from MEGA for several months now and it does work with IE10 but with the noted problem above. Refreshing the page is the workaround.

If the game was running fine before, it could be that there is a problem with one or more of the mod files, or they may be in the wrong location, etc.

You may have to UNINSTALL (don't just remove or erase) the game and REINSTALL it. Before you try any mods, try running the game to see if it runs normally.

Install your mods one-by-one, running the game and testing each mod before you install the next mode.

Exit the game and install the next mod, then run the game to test it, and so on.

If the game crashes after installing one of the mods, then it's probably a corrupted or bad mod file and you should delete it. If the game keeps crashing after that, you may have to uninstall the game again and then reinstall it and all the mods that worked OK.
