File locations, taking screens& Hot Keys

Postby Miut » Tue Sep 09, 2008 2:40 am

Since these questions keep coming up, I am gathering what we know from the Alpha testing here for everyone. Some of this duplicates Jaguar and JuliaSet's work so thanks to them too. Please do add new information on keys etc here.

Your Files for Hinterland are in 2 locations.
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\hinterland
This is the main folder. Here the Hinterland.exe file is.

The other location is for Saved Games. This MUST be located in

C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\My Documents\Tilted Mill\Hinterland

This is because Windows Vista saves games here, so every game must be in line with this.
**IF you have relocated your My Documents folder to another Drive, you MUST relocate it back to drive C or you will not be able to see the names of your Characters. I know because I had relocated my Document folder to my E Drive. :(

What version do I have?
Go to the folder in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\hinterland and Highlight the Hinterland.exe file. Right Click it and choose Properties. Choose the VERSION tab for the Version information

Screen Pictures.
Currently we need to take pictures manually. This means hitting the PrtSc button on your keyboard, then opening an Art program like the free MS Paint, or Paint Shop Pro, and Pasting it into that from the clipboard.
Save it as a .jpg file and Name it with no spaces in the name, as Elemental Tools asks you to do before Uploading any files.

MS Paint is found by going to the Start Button > All Programs > Accessories

Hot Keys.

Health
Key 1 gives a Health Potion to the Lord.
Keys 2,3,4,5 give Health Potions to the other party members in that order.

Pause key
Pause is the P key or the Space Bar.
You can Pause in the middle of a fight and take a Health Potion, or if you just Upgraded a level, do that then return to the fight.

Esc Key
Esc lets you close any menu that might be open and not reachable right now because it is under another menu.

Tab Key
Tab Key brings up the Region map.

Shift Key
Shift key makes you stand still to fight.

That's all I am aware of right now, so I hope this helps anyone who didn't know any of the above. :)
