very wired bug with resolution and grpahics

Postby zulu » Fri Jan 01, 2010 7:54 am

hi!

just bought the game from Steam.

the resolution won't change from 800X600 to 1050X1640.

not only that but, when playing a campgian, there is another anooying but when the water and the surrounding earth splashes one another.

what can i do to fix it?!

thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forums. :)

when playing a campgian, there is another anooying but when the water and the surrounding earth splashes one another

I'm not sure what you're referring to here. Children of the Nile's agricultural system is dependent on the Nile floods so the water periodically rises over the floodplains. If they don't rise, that's when you worry. ;)

Also, avoid building on areas that are flood-prone or else your buildings run the risk of getting wiped out.

the resolution won't change from 800X600 to 1050X1640

I don't think Children of the Nile supports widescreen resolutions; there have been issues with that mentioned by others here.

Maybe someone has a better idea on what's going on here. :o

I'm not sure about the resolution mentioned by the OP, but I run CotN on 1280 x 800. It stretches the loading pictures, but gives me an additional view in-game.

The editor will not go above 4:3, however. I deal with that. :p

Yes, COTN most definitely runs widescreen, but perhaps this was with the v1.3.01 patch.

I run COTN on setting of 1440x900x32bit & it is the Steam version.

Ah, good point. But if zulu just got them from Steam, it should be the latest version of plain vanilla CotN, right? Not sure about that.

BTW, Happy New Year, Tink!

EDIT: Ah - the patch still has to be downloaded, I'd wager. I wasn't thinking.

Happy New Decade to you also, Yahya! We missed you!

Steam has two versions, enhanced v1.3.01 & Alexandria XPac. Cannot get vanilla from Steam.

Tink is correct; the version up on Steam is Enhanced Edition. :)

The dimensions the OP noted seemed kind of odd: "1050X1640"

But then again, I'm pretty behind when it comes to computers. :o

And welcome back, Yahya. :D

Agreed, Azeem. Never seen that resolution & COTN definitely doesn't have anything like that. It looks like two steps up from COTN & backwards.
