Postby speysider » Thu Jan 15, 2009 9:17 pm

No replies please. Just record your vote, but it is a private vote.

EDIT: It's meant to be "Would you want speysider to be a moderator?"

You should have put maybe as an option.

Lol, mine would be maybe, leaning towards no. Be aware that when I held a similar poll it turned into a disaster.

How about the option of "do you believe certain personages who seem to be determined to convince everyone that they are a moderator should take a cooling off period from the forum until their demeanor improves"

Deguakay
Hetephinushr of Raka (59N) Sandals and Leather
Rakheben of Amunsesh (49N) Sculptures and Bronze
Rawaset of Setger (80N) Jewelry and Gold

I haven't made a choice in this poll, however, I have been a moderator and then an administrator at a fairly busy gaming forum in the past. My experience has been that the more you want to be a moderator, the less qualified you are to actually be one. No offense Speysider, as I don't know the first thing about you, I'm only stating what my observation has been.

For the record, being a moderator, particularly on gaming forums, is an extremely thankless and stressful job, and it's not something I ever want to do again.

Spey, Hon, after reading all your threads (and I agreed with you on some things) I would have to say I don't think you would be a very good mod.. I think you might let the job go to your head.. Well, heck, it already has and your not even a mod yet.. :) So no, I would have to vote no.. Think you need a bit more seasoning before having a position that, in your mind, should put you on a pedestal.. That's a very dangerous position..

Let me see if I got this right.... the biggest complaint to date is that someone has been making a lot of posts that call attention to themselves without furthering the discussion....... Think about it.

This forum should require absolutely minimal moderation. I think Reed has done an excellent job to date of reminding folks to keep it civil when things started getting heated. What we have now is a pretty minimal amount of "background noise", made worse by blaring sirens and whistles. ;) As an administrator for FPSadmin.com, I've found "active moderators" = "noisy forums".

In fact, I think this thread should be closed now....
