Not sure if this makes you feel any better, but maybe your luck will flip the other direction.

No problem. My "luck" is notoriously bad in almost all the games I play. If a group of 6 go on a quest to get items, I am always the last one to finish, sometimes long after the rest are done. Some times I get a little frustrated, but I am always back. For NO, I just go relax in children of the nile.

New round of quests for me. I'll be writing them in this post rather than the old one, starting with yesterday.

25 Nome Explorations (1 Flower, 1 Linen)
3 Desert Expeditions (1 Linen)
1 Journey to Punt (nothing)
1 Holy Pilgrimage (nothing)

I've sent out about 30 Desert Expedition quests, along with about 4 Holy Pilgrimages and a few miscellaneous ones for about two or three weeks, and have not received one item or scarab.

Bad luck, or bug?

You decide!

Tale of the Tape ~ I have continuously sent out every envoy I have w/o exception. Questing all the time since they were introduced.

Number of Sabah Quests (low to high) 26 26 58 5 5 13 = 133 Quests

Profile Item Payoffs

9/28/09 ~ Desert ~ Scarab
9/28/09 ~ Tomb ~ Flowers
9/29/09 ~ Nome ~ Scarab
10/1/09 ~ Tomb ~ Linen
My loong dry spell here w/o items, but still doing them
10/12/09 ~ Tomb ~ Quartz
10/12/09 ~ Tomb ~ Scarab
10/15/09 ~ Tomb ~ Flowers
10/21/09 ~ Holy ~ Armor
10/22/09 ~ Holy ~ Scarab
10/25/09 ~ Med ~ Flowers
10/27/09 ~ Desert ~ Wine
10/29/09 ~ Holy ~ Linen & Scarab

Totals ~ 1 Armor, 1 Wine, 1 Quartz, 2 Linen, 3 Flowers (, 5 Scarabs). I consider Scarabs a failed Quest.

I have no complaints, except possibly too many Scarabs. I don't consider myself very lucky. Others are Questing much better.

I am still continuously Questing. :D

Neither. Whining. ;)

I DO have a hypothesis, though. If we have a high Capital Palace/Empire/Rank, we should be doing the higher quests. My Labs on trying to do Quests on the cheap have not given me very good results.

As embarrassing as it is to even begin thinking of adding my first quest to this thread, I'm happy to know you cannot actually see me where I am! :p

Anyways, I sent my first envoj today and recieved - not surprisingly after reading this thread - 287 bricks!

I'm going to fire my brick workers now!

All I can say is that quests don't seem to be paying off any more. I haven't gotten a new quest item in almost two weeks.

I was hoping the two new quests that ate 45 of my ships would bring some sort of decent reward but that failed miserably with nothing more than more bricks.

I've been able to send out quests just about every day but bricks is all I'm getting back.

1 scarab (don't need)
1 flower
1 skin
countless unneeded bricks
and a lot of saved construction time (because I was sick of getting bricks).

Wish TM would at least stick some Kohl in my stocking... I could sell that! ;)

I don't think anything has changed. It's just completely random.
I had nothing for the past two weeks either, and then I got the monkeys and the next day I got wine.

At least my third envoy gave something more than just bricks;

During the Nome Exploration quest your envoy uncovered a tomb, earning you:

+ 216 bricks in your capital city
+ 1 Scarab! It has been credited to your account.

I can only do the Nome Exploration Quest at this time though! Does anyone know at what levels the others are available?

I think every time you get a spec point, you also get an envoy, so one each level 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 21 of your capital palace.

Yes, these two quests don't seem very useful unless you need a cedar sink.

Since I don't produce cedar I consider ships too expensive to waste on ventures like these.

When the quests were introduced, I was doing 1 holy pilgrimage then 12 hours later the other quests daily. When the Punt and Mediterranean quests were introduced, I started doing the Punt and Nome alternating with the Mediterranean and Desert quests every day.

My results:

Construction time and bricks daily from the start

Nov 4, I got my first extra item

Punt: + Next construction project reduced by 10 hours!
+ 1 item (Hammer)

With those results, I must be in the less than 1% of trips getting an item. My RNG or whatever is used to grant surprises must be the very unlucky one.

I produce cedar, and make enough ships daily just to run the ship eating quests, so it isn't a problem.

Not sure about the new quests.

Postby Pontius Pilatus » Wed Nov 04, 2009 8:33 pm

Hrm,

I am not sure if I have done enough of the 4 and 5 quests, but I think among them and counting two worlds I must have done 10 to 12 of them.
I love the building bonus, but I assumed you could get items too, sofar for me no items. If I do the lower quests, items and sarabs are showered over me in comparison. Just unlucky sofar? I think so, but I sure want to hear some successtory or I revert to the lower quests. :(
But it ain't necessarily so.

I've gotten stuff from them, but not much. Since I have no use for more bricks, I just go for the build boosts. Didn't get much more from the little quests either - so I think its a luck thing.

I also believe it is just a luck thing. A friend has gotten scarabs and 14 of the other items and just does the quests randomly. I have gotten nothing but the one hammer in addition to the bricks and construction time and do two sets of quests daily.

edit: we are both at the point we could go immortal from before the envoys were introduced.

Has anyone received one of the top four Profile Items

Blade, Golden Blade, Armor or MONKEYS !!!

from either a Med or a Journey?

When they were first introduced, I claimed that they were too cheap, especially the bread sink part & the amount of speedups didn't make sense. However, if we cannot get the top four from them, then my objection disappears.

Further update

Something tells me that Tricky & VERY Evil™ TM tweaked the numbers when Quests went live on Theoris (both servers) or perhaps a bit later with this post...

This means that our Labs from earlier are probably now meaningless.

...back to square one...lol...gotta love it...
