Children of the Nile is on GOG now. :) If you want to avoid the issues with Steam, this is a good option, too.

There are no issues with steam.

Except that it might not be installable, e.g. on the laptop I'm using most of the time. Group policies. The same policies make sure that no DRM can be installed, because most of the time they need to bury stuff deep into the Windows system.

Exactly.

I use Steam myself, but I don't trust it either.
