SimCity 2000
For some reason I still love the second installment of this franchise. It felt as if it was easy to create a city and the demand for RCI goes up very fast over time. I loved the fourth speed option compared to the three SimCity 4 gave us. I wish EA could just remaster the game and add slightly better graphics, not too much to take away it's charm. New buidlings, possibly to match that of the other SimCities. Just to make the game even more awesome.
I loved the city styles you could choose and building futuristic cities are very awesome, not to exclude the historical ones. The newspaper that kept coming up was very fun to read and sometimes I just read that instead of actually playing the game.
I wish to know how many still plays this old outdated game and still find it fun.
Good Evening.

What not even Tic-Tac-Toe, Scrabble, Monopoly, Chess, Checkers, Basketball, Football, Baseball...
Or did you just mean video games?
Hell - most of my favorites are over 10 years old.
Does anyone remember Zork?

SimCity 4 should be required playing for anyone talking about the property tax issue. Once you become "the Mayor" for a couple of decades and you start to understand that nothing is free and tough choices and decisions have to be made. Love that game.

What I missed most about SC2K was the actual newspapers. I found the later "tickers" lame and ruined a certain part of the entertainment aspect of the game. I mean, who doesn't chuckle at the pointless, random stories such as "Grandma Turns 800" and the more serious but still lighthearted "Time Running Out" (indicating your power plants are going to expire).
The petitioners in SC3K were win (although there should have been more), and I was rather dissappointed when SC4 got rid of it, with the advisors just telling you everything you needed to do. It's almost like when SC4 came out, the mayor lost all connection with the people. (The My Sim mode in SC4 was inane in concept. They are like mayor's confidants who aren't mayor's confidants. A single person doesn't reflect a larger society.)
In my opinion, that's the real corner the franchise got into, and not that the game became too difficult for the common gamer. That's why I like SCS for what it is. I just think EA and Tilted Mill could have done more for it. (Hint-- bring back the petitioners, have sims form interest groups!)

I've played all of the SimCity games. The original SimCity was one of my first games on PC and I played it endlessly.
Then, when SC2K was released, I bought it and loved it! I loved its simplicity. I loved the Archologies! The soaring populations numbers and the problems they created.
SC2K in my mind, was the pinnacle of the SimCity franchise. SC3K and SC4 are both enjoyable enough, but they seem more like work. SC2K was, as Will Wright called it, a software toy more than it was a game or a simulation.

City builders are not gone. First there are the existing games, which all work fine on Windows XP at least. And I may add that I'm working on Villages and Cities to be another city builder, taking place in medieval Europe, to be enjoyed.
